RPM Inc. is the pre-eminent worldwide manufacturer and marketer of mainten
ance and specialty coatings for waterproofing, corrosion control, industrial flooring maintenance and external wall finishing systems. RPM is also a marketer of consumer products in the areas of home improvement, hobby and leisure products, and auto and marine products. TCI was acquired by RPM in 1996 adding a quality name to RPM's list of well known companies including Bondo, Rust-Oleum and Testor's, Woolsey and Z-Spar to name a few.
Republic Powdered Metals began operation just after the second world war in 1947 manufacturing and distributing a heavy-duty aluminum coating called Alumanation. That year sales reached $90,000 and the course was set for what was to become RPM International, Inc. to continue to reach new sales goals each year.
Today, with Alumination still a popular product, RPM's family of quality companies has grown and so have sales and earnings. For over fifty straight years RPM has shown record increases in both of these areas with sales now topping $1.7 billion. RPM's success has been evident in the financial world as well. RPM's last ranking in Fortune Magazine's top 1000 companies was number 899, shareholders now number over 80,000 and RPM has been featured in such publications as The 100 Best Stocks You Can Buy and America's Finest Companies by the Financial Trading Group.

For over half a century RPM has had a consistent business philosophy of quality, a consistent acquisition program and a consistent value for its shareholders. TCI is proud to be in the family of such a great company.
Warehousing and Distribution
All of our powder shipping originates as it always has out of our plant in Ellaville, Ga. We ship out tons of standard colors each day. These boxes and barrels of powder are stored in 17 warehouse locations around the U.S. and Canada. We ensure you can get the products you need, when you need it, whether it comes from Elizabeth, New Jersey, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada or Haywood, California.
We run it all smoothly using a computer system that performs the multiple jobs of monitoring production, tracking and inventory and customer usage. All of this is in real time so it's up to the minute. Performing what-if scenarios is of vital importance to get you the right powder on time. For example, a company in Florida needs a certain quantity of a particular color over their regular oder and it's more than their normal stocking warehouse has. We can look at other warehouses to supply the balance.
But before shipping we know if any problem may exist for another company and can continue looking. At the same time the plant in Ellaville knows of the short coming and more product is produced and shipped to keep supply up. Quality service to make sure you get the product you need on time.

Our quality policy is To Be An Excellent Supplier. Being awarded our ISO 9002 certification in October of 1997 is a point of pride that the intended high quality of our products and service is officially recognized worldwide. ISO certification while voluntary, provides a benchmark for quality in the way we look at our relationships with our customers and the way we do business. It reflects our desire to exceed our customers expectations.
Our documentation process took a little over two years to complete. Starting in early 1995 we had to define the goals of our quality system and compare them to the ones outlined by ISO. In-house documentation of these goals was an important step. During this time quality procedures had to be detailed and employees in all areas of the plant had to be trained and signed off on these procedures. Employee input was valued and used to format the uniform procedures to ensure understanding and continuity in all areas from shift to shift.
The Georgia Institute of Technology guided us through the process helping us to understand our status and make any improvements along the way. In February of 1997 we selected our auditors for certification. Audits were prepared, reviewed and subsequent corrective actions were made over the next eight months leading up to our anticipated success in September 1997. Our certification was upgraded to ISO 9001:2000 in August of 2003.
ISO remains with us still. It is a dynamic standard with surveillance audits and on-going refinement. It allows us constantly measure the relationship between our level of quality and service and our most important asset, our customers.
